Getting Nude with MAC

23 January 2017

I am a massive fan of MAC cosmetics and I know without doubt that I am not the only one. As it was in 2016, Nude lipsticks were a trend that seems to have only flourished in the year of 2017. Whether it's a matte shade or something with a little more 'slick', the trend has only pushed beauty brands all over the world, to try come up with products 'worthy' of the Nude hype.

For myself, without question, MAC has been one of the top brands on my list when it comes to buying lipstick. They have introduced an outstanding number of shades ranging from your pinks to your reds and even including the odd blue, purple and black. My particular favourites are their neutral collection which have resulted in these being my top three. I adore wearing a neutral lip in a daily basis just because it goes with anything and I can still look like I made an effort. I can't be the only one who rushes to get to their 9-5 on a Monday morning?

From Left to Right: All MAC Products - Matte: Velvet Teddy | Cremeshene: Spirit | Matte: Whirl
From the swatches above, as you can see they all suit my skin tone rather nicely. Although it may not seem like there is much difference between the shades, I suppose it's all down to personal preference. Starting with Velvet Teddy, this particular item is considered to be formed for a Matte finish. I'm sure everybody by now is sick of hearing about the matte lip but I still can't get enough of it! A major favourite and was compared with Kylie Jenner before her collab started, Velvet Teddy is a very neutral nudey/brown that just adds a slight bit of colour to my complexion. The next swatch is their Cremesheen - Spirit. I bought this shade to try differentiate from the matte range and go for something a little more smooth. Less 'drying' than the other formula, this lipstick is great to add a little shine. Applies smoothly and is only a little darker than Velvet Teddy. The final swatch is MAC's Whirl. This is another matte product and is the darkest of the three. This is a lipstick I pick when I'm looking quite pale but want to add some dimension to the lack of 'glow' I may have for whatever reason. As it lasts for ages, Whirl is great for those who want to possess a colour that is a little more bold and is more brown than pink. I'd take a gander at MAC's website to see what colours you think would best suit your look. Would love to hear your thoughts.

    1. They do! It's amazing. I always love visiting a MAC store just to look at their range. Brave is also a fantastic colour, sadly, the pinker the tone the more washed up I look! It's so sad.

  4. Velvet Teddy is sure the talk of the town when it comes to nude MAC lipstick. I so badly want to buy one, but can't afford just yet! :D The other shades also look perfect for everyday use!

I haven't tried any of these and almost all are from Revlon! :D When it comes to nude I really like Maybelline's creamy matte nudes. They are my favorite everyday lippies! Thank you for sharing this. I might check some out soon!

    1. Understandably, MAC cosmetics is a bit pricey but totally worth it. All their lipsticks all have the MAC signature vanilla smell to it too.
